Daily Bread of Life Orphanage

Image
While in Iringa we spent a lot of time with our guide company,    Chabo Africa   All the men who run Chabo;Modest, Ernest, & Sam, go to the same church in Iringa run by a very bright man whom we were able to meet.  His name is Rev Mpeli Mwaisumbe.  Rev Mpeli was a bishop in the Baptist church before starting his own church in Iringa.  Among other things, Rev Mpeli runs an orphanage called the Daily Bread of Life Children's Home.  There are about 60 kids staying here; ranging in age from 3-17.  We were able to spend sometime with the kids as it was between school breaks.  We passed out soccer balls, took questions, and Gavin did a little outreach with his Kadama which was a big hit. Masai People

Our guide, Sam, grew up alongside a well established tribe of Masai people who are still actively herding and living a rural lifestyle.  He was able to arrange a visit for us where we got to witness a few of their dances and speak privately with their oldest member.  A women they all called Bebe or grandmother.  It was amazing.
